  1. One way you could do it is to make a pattern from which to cut the wallpaper for each stairwell wall. Measure the depth of the stairs and cut strips of scrap paper the same depth. Then, one by one, cut them to the approximate length of the wall from ceiling (or bottom of the cornice) to the top of the step. Put it into place keeping the bottom edge snug along the top of the step. Run you hand up to the top and make a good strong crease along the edge where the top of the paper will reach. Take it out and cut it along the crease. Place all of the strips, one wall at a time, with the top edges straight, tape them together across the front, and that's your pattern to cut the wallpaper from, each of the sheets should then be a perfect fit. (Remember to allow a small overlap to go around the corner on the back wall, put this sheet on first, and then the side sheets which are cut to the exact size of the wall, butt them up against the back wall.) I haven't tried this on walls but have seen a very similar system used to get the perfect fit of floorcovering on a floor that's not properly square. Good luck - and I hope you've got little hands to fit in and around the stairs ;)
